Well, today Mississippi State opens the 2012 BASEBALL season (yes - baseball) with the first of a 3 game series with the Washington State Cougars. The game starts at 6P.M. and this is the first time that these 2 teams have ever faced each other. The Dawgs are expected to have a fairly good team this year.
On the Softball side, the Lady Dogs are undefeated after the first 5 regular season games and play 4 games this weekend. This is following 6 exhibition games (that don't count on their record) that they won all of. Might have to go watch a few of their games. Especially since the softball games have free admission.
Starkville High plays tonight (against Provine) in the semi-final game of the (North Half) 5A Basketball tournament. If they win tonight, they are guaranteed of being one of the 4 teams(2 from the north/2 from the south)that will play in Jackson for the overall 5A State championship and they will play tomorrow for the North Half Championship. I'll keep you informed.
And I think I forgot to mention this but the SHS Boys Soccer team are the Mississippi 5A High school Champions. About 2 weeks ago they defeated a heavily-favored Pascagoula High team 1-0 to win the 5A tournament.
